I began working as a full time Scenic Artist at Konduit NYC after returning to New York from the Santa Fe Opera’s 2021 Season. I quickly gained more responsibilities and transitioned into the role of Scenic Charge over the following months. My responsibilities came to include, sampling and application of all scenic treatments, management and instruction of the scenic crew, hiring and scheduling of scenic artists, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, coordinating between departments (often during simultaneous builds), tracking of scenic labor, ordering of materials, and documenting colors and treatments for completed builds.

Konduit is a fast paced work environment with little room for error due to tight build schedules, and inflexible install deadlines. We commonly build scenery for photo shoots, immersive experiences, product launches, and special events. We install scenery at various locations across NYC, and occasionally out of state. It is commonplace for us to have two to four projects with overlapping builds. Organization and consistent work practices are paramount.
